Akumu is a thief who lives in the ruins of Old Tokyo on the eastern side of the Crystal Palace. She has no memory of her parents or her past life, except that a sailor senshi kidnapped her guardian. Because of this, she hates the sailor senshi. She lives by her wits and unusual skills which let her disappear without being heard and leap from the ground to the rooftops. She is also very fast at running, almost faster than Haruka.
She has a special friendship with Chibiusa and Hotaru because they are the only people who have ever shown her kindness. Likewise, she has a deep respect for Haruka as a senshi and as a person. She admires Ami's intelligence and is always in awe of Queen Serenity, having learned the legend of Sailor Moon as a child.
Akumu and the Asteroid senshi dislike each other. The Asteroid senshi hate her because they were the favourite senshi of the royal family until she showed up. Akumu hates them because they kidnapped her and keep trying to get rid of her.
Akumu is Sailor Nyx, the senshi of Dreams and of the Mind. She was persuaded by Sailor Uranus and by her guardian spirit, Lucis to embrace her senshi powers for her own good. Abyss wanted to use the reluctant senshi for her own dark purposes, but Akumu refused.
